They were in charge of the 11 local government areas of Gombe state during the 2015 polls.The three main suspects are Ahmed Biu, the electoral officer for Akko local government area (LGA), Ahmed Ali Biu, the INEC official in charge of Gombe LGA, and Mohammed Zannah. The trio said a retired electoral officer, Yunusa Biri, was in charge of coordinating the distribution of bribes in the state.However, the â˜coordinatorâ™ allegedly short-changed the INEC officials, gave out only N8 million to the elevenLGAs in the state.
3EFCC grills former governorAn undisclosed EFCCâ™s operative said the zonal division of the anti-graft agency will continue questioning of the following detainedofficers: Godwin Maiyaki, Gambo Balanga, Bukar Benisheik, Dukku, Jibril Muhammed, Billiri, Dunguma Dogona, Funakaye, Mohammed Wanka, Kaltungo, Ishaku Yusuf, Kwami, Suleiman Isawa, Babagana Malami, Shongom, and Nuhu Samuel.It is not the first confession on Diezaniâ™s bribe saga. On April 16, a former resident electoral commissioner in Rivers state, MrsGesila Khan, has allegedly confessedreceiving N185.6 million last year, ahead of the March 28 presidential and the April 11 governorship elections.The total amount of alleged Diezaniâ™sfunds for bribing the electoral officials in the south-south is estimated at N675.1 million.
